Purpose: To test whether the Essence Facial Peeling Gel can brighten, whiten, and rejuvenate skin as so claimed
Procedure: Mix gel with spatula before application. Apply a thin layer on a clean face avoiding eye area, twice a week for two weeks, then once a week after. Scrub off gently, and rinse well. Do this only at night before sleeping. Recommended to follow with any moisturizer.
Background info: Gender: Female. Age: 20. Ethnicity: Asian (Vietnamese). Skin issues: cystic acne for four years; has been getting slightly better.
Hopes and expectations: I hope to see smaller pores, brighter skin, and acne scars to fade.
Reality: I do have to say that my skin is really soft after using this product. When applying, this gel dries up pretty quickly so no need to wait before scrubbing. Actually, you might need to pat a damp towel on your face so you can actually scrub but make sure it isn't too wet because then you're going to have a hard time scrubbing. You actually do scrub off dead skin but know that it's like 75% gel, 25% dead skin.
So my pores are slightly smaller on my cheeks and kind of on my nose. My boyfriend has told me that I look more yellow (I assume he means I have a better complexion). I am definitely not allergic to this product because I have had little to no breakouts since using this product. Not saying that this gel gets rid of acne; I've been taking good care of myself lately such as eating healthy, exercising, and sleeping early. As for my acne scars, I don't see much of a difference. They look cleaner in a way that the scars are more pink and not dark, but other than that, not much going on.
They tell you not to put this around your eye area for a reason. I accidentally put some close to the area under my eye and it slightly burns. Probably because the skin there is thin. So avoid the eye area like the instructions say.
I do not moisturize after using the peeling gel.
Next update on gel will be September 27, 2014.
